On Saturday April 2nd Newcastle City Library and Newcastle Writers Festival hosted the launch of my first picture book, Moon Dance. The book is beautifully illustrated by Renee Treml. Moon Dance is a fun, classic and beautiful celebration of our native landscape as well as being a book about getting your body moving and enjoying the freedom of dancing.
The Lovett Gallery was filled with eager kids and parents who sat completely absorbed in the story. I was really happy to hear lots of chuckles coming from the audience as this is a book that's full of fun.
I was thrilled to have multi award winning Jules Faber launch the book with me. Jules and I have really enjoyed working together on The Kaboom Kid series.
We had lots of craft activities organised for the kids. They could create dancing koalas or make native flower arrangements.
The kids were more than happy to show off their dance moves and joined me in imitating lots of Aussie animals.
The staff at the library unveiled the most divine cut outs of the animal character which Renee Treml created for the book.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported this book. I am thrilled with the reception the book has received.
